Re: Show me your Gimcrack
That's a fantastic piece of gimcrack. It's too bad, the seller didn't ship it properly.
If there was only 12 total, ever made. You might have one of the rarest pieces of gimcrack out there.

Real shame about the damage in shipping James but great you put it back together as it's a really cool piece with an interesting back story, hope to hear more about it mate

Re: Show me your Gimcrack
James, that’s a hell of a story and I am shocked how well you were able to re-assemble that thing.
I’ve recently got in two fine examples of unlicensed gimcrack (not sure if the podcast guys are into unlicensed stuff) but one of them I’ve never even seen a photo of before and it is pretty wild. I’ll post them as soon as I’ve had a chance to take some photos which do them justice.
In the meantime, I am thoroughly enjoying James’ story there.

Re: Show me your Gimcrack
Here's my latest gimcrack pick:
Some glorious, colourful bootleg stickers with a Canadian import sticker on the back.
The second item there is the notorious Spaced #1 (1974) by Jim Pinkoski. If you're not familiar, there was a great 'Chive Cast episode, way back (during the ESB figures, I think) where they covered it quite well, but I can't seem to find that episode or I'd have linked it here.

I posted this over in "Latest Pickups" but I had to share it here too.

Love your latest additions Chris - That comic is fantastic
Picked this up from a seller who said they purchased it from their credit union in the 80's . No tags or markings at all unfortunately

I haven't been able to identify it yet - anyone else have a clue

That's awesome, James! It might be an unlicensed piece. Much like the frisbee, it could have been made by the company that distributed it. That being said, the graphic does look pretty legit.

Brilliant!
Re: Show me your Gimcrack
Here's a wild one. Supposedly this poster was never officially sold. Lucasfilm either disliked it for calling Luke a Jedi Knight in 1977 (too early) or they shot it down because its just plain terrible graphic design.

Looks like a stepping stone for a garden that was turned into a clock! wonder if it was a custom piece or an actual manufactured item for sale.

It must have been a production piece in the world of ceramics. I just found another well worn example on ebay.

Re: Show me your Gimcrack
I wonder if it was one of those types of pieces that come as greenware at the ceramic shops, you then can paint it any way you want and have it fired to finish it. Depending on who is doing the painting Kid vs Adult you get a more professional look. You can see from the first example there was many more colours used for more detail.

Those are fantastic.
I checked my book, the SWCA & googled. But didn't find anything that looked like that.
