Re: PSYCHO - The Official Horror Movie Discussion Thread
I was anticipating it so much, I stayed up late last night and watched it. Umm...not that I have a copy here or anything.....
If you want plot and character development, it sucks. If you want violence, nudity, and plenty of twisted death scenes, it's a masterpiece. All depends on what you want in a movie. Personally, I know what to expect from a Rob Zombie movie, and with that mindset, I'd say it's either #2 or #3 on my fave list from him.
If you want a comparison to what the movie is about, it's like Zombie took this movie and put his own spin on it (which gives me a chance to post today's 80's flashback).

Re: PSYCHO - The Official Horror Movie Discussion Thread
I just found out about the new Friday about a week or two ago. Needless to say, in a year that has a shitload of awesome titles coming, this is the ONLY one I will 100% guarantee I will see in the theater. (Well, maybe World War Z 2 as well).
Just followed the link James, and it seems we'll be seeing the onscreen debut of Jason's father, Elias Voorhees. I know nothing about the comics, but from the description at that site, it sounds like Michael Cudlitz (Abraham in Walking Dead) would be a great fit for the role. Not sure overall of the whole origin concept, as I think the "origins" idea is overdone in Hollywood, but seeing Jason's childhood would be pretty interesting. VERY glad Paramount got the franchise back as well, as they produced the films of its glory days. New Line hasn't exactly done the franchise justice.
Is that Leatherface movie coming for sure? The link is two years old. I was tipped off when it described the actor playing young Leatherface (ANOTHER origin movie...) was in talks to play Spiderman in the "upcoming" Captain America: Civil War.
On another note, what the hell? No action in this thread since last September? Well, that won't stand.
Here's my return to 80's Flashback Horror, and it's a doozy. Be warned - this movie is incredibly graphic and contains extreme scenes above and beyond your typical horror film. Makes a Friday film look like My Little Pony in comparison. You've been warned.

NEKROMANTIK (1987)
Ian
Re: PSYCHO - The Official Horror Movie Discussion Thread
If we're talking about Necromantik, I don't think I will blow anyone's mind telling them about that 1989 southern fable known as Pumpkinhead is one of my favorites, but surely many of you already know about that gem. Great topic.
Re: PSYCHO - The Official Horror Movie Discussion Thread
Necromantik is probably beyond what all but 2-3 of us would even consider watchable.
Pumpkinhead is awesome. My oldest and I met Lance Henrikson at a Toronto con a couple of years ago. We spoke with him for a few minutes. REALLY nice guy, who was open to questions about absolutely anything.
So, with my reply, I need another 80's movie to highlight.
Just found out last night, this year will bring a new addition to this franchise.

Re-Animator (1985)
Ian
Re: PSYCHO - The Official Horror Movie Discussion Thread
Necromantik is certainly a strong one, Ian's warning about the movie should not be taken likely
It's great to hear another Friday 13th and another Re-Animator are to be realeased, some of the effects in Re-animator are awesome
Thanks for mentioning Pumpkinhead Chris, that's one I actually have not seen, but I will certainly pick up a copy soon
I've been searching the house this weekend looking for either the movie or mini series of this as I fancied watching it again but can't find my copy of either

Re: PSYCHO - The Official Horror Movie Discussion Thread
I have Antiviral, but have yet to see it. You're going to love Pumpkinhead, Andy.
Is that Rabid as in David Cronenberg's 1977 movie? If it is, you're in for a treat. Cronenberg is a twisted man, and this is a really interesting take on the vampire story. Stars porn star Marylin Chambers too. If you like it, you have to try some of his earlier stuff like Shivers and The Brood, films he made before breaking out with Scanners. In lieu of an 80's film, I'll present the trailer for Rabid, for anyone else interested.

You rightly say Ian, Cronenberg is a twisted man
I look foreward to watching Pumpkinhead as well

Have you heard the news?
Paramount has officially canceled this year's Friday the 13th film permanently - because "Rings" didn't live up to expectations.
I'm so pissed off, I'm not even going to bother ending this post the way I usually do in this thread with an 80's classic.

Re: PSYCHO - The Official Horror Movie Discussion Thread
lol That moment when a sequel/remake to an overrated early 2000's "horror" movie does badly and ruins the powerful third rebirth of Jason. Sad.
Re: PSYCHO - The Official Horror Movie Discussion Thread
I think Paramount is losing the rights to the franchise again in a year or two, so they probably just don't care about Friday. I don't doubt New Line will jump at the chance to make a new movie, just sucks it got delayed yet again.

Nice score Andy. I didn't know there was an Atari game based on the film. What scale is the figure?
