Bi-Monthly Membership Newsletters

It depended on when someone sent their application to the Fan Club on which issue of the Newsletter they would have received with their Fan Club Kit . Early joiners would have most likely gotten one of the early issues (1 through 4) before the name changed to Bantha Tracks . People that joined a bit later might have received a issue of Bantha Tracks (5 through 8 ) .

Note :In Bantha Tracks Issue # 12 Fan Club Members were offered a "limited supply" reissue of the 1977/1978 circular Official Fan Club Kit . All the paperwork , photos , book cover etc. are marked 1981 . Unfortunately since the patches are not date stamped we have not figured out if the 1981 circular patches are different and , if so , what the differences are .

Due to the extended period of time that these patches were available it should be expected that they can be found in slight pattern and color variations . However there are also fake / reproduction patches floating around out there which tend to be lower quality . The fakes are different enough from the originals that they can usually be told apart by comparing them to the originals .

Issue # 10 also started selling back Issues of Bantha Tracks except for the first 4 issues which had already been sold out and hard to come by for quite some time . In Issue # 12 Bantha Tracks also re-released a limited run of the original " 1977 Fan Club Kit " for purchase by members . The first and only time the Revenge Of The Jedi Yoda patch was available to purchase was in Bantha Tracks Issue # 19 (Feb 1983) . It would seem that the Fan Club didn't get Return Of The Jedi's title change before they had already made "Revenge" patches to sell to fan club members . By the time the February issue was ready to send out they had this explanation :

This is a original patch :

3 months later , in issue # 20 , the "Revenge" patch was corrected with a "Return" patch . Due to the very short time the Revenge Of The Jedi Yoda patch was available it is by far the hardest fan club patch to find and the patch that is reproduced/faked the most often .

These applications are printed on slick glossy paper and can be found in at least 4 variations .

These applications were primarily distributed in the ROTJ Fan Club Kits and multiple copies would be sent to try encourage the members to hand them out to friends . They were included with the Fan Club Kits for 4 years (1983 through 1986) which would help explain why they are so numerous and why they had multiple membership fee , postal cost and/or address changes .
