Horrible Customs by ourchickenshack

This will probably come as a shock to most of you guys , given my normal distaste for horror movies , zombies , monsters , Halloween and the like  

I have decided to try and make as many Horror-ible customs as I can come up with ideas for ...

It's a resin model that I bought off ebay quite a few years ago - I really can't figure out much history on it and I have rarely seen another come up for sell

I think it may have been a exclusive release for a comic con type of convention

My wife asked me to make it for a friend of hers that is a big Dead Head (as a X-mas Gift    )

Torso - Trench Coat Han (belt and lower jacket pockets sanded off ; collar and lower part of shirt sculpted with milliput)

Rumor has it that Alex is a fan of Bespin Luke so , of course , that was my choice for the head, legs and torso .

I used milliput to sculpt the beard and back of hair/ponytail . It's far from perfect but it was only my second attempt at using the stuff and I think it turned out better than I had expected . I really like milliput now and hopefully , with a little practice , I will get better at sculpting  

It actually took 2 applications of the milliput - one for just the beard and back of the hair and ponytail and the second application (after it dried) was the mustache and building up the hair area on the back of his head to make it blend in better with the existing heads hair sculpt .

After I had already painted the entire figure I had a afterthought to modify the holster so that it would hold a knife . So I whittled away at it and used some more milliput to fashion a makeshift Knife sheath (the knife is removable) , and then repainted the whole leg .

The arms were by far the most challenging part (way harder than the hair/beard) . Although the tattoos weren't easy they aren't what made the arms hard - I decided I needed bare skinned arms for the figure and had the bright idea to use a Fisher Price Adventure People Diver figure - one of these ...

I thought that since they were the same scale the arms would be fairly easy to swap ... I was dead wrong . Although the have the same type of post coming out the shoulder with the round discs on the ends as Star Wars figures , the Adv People figures posts and discs are much , much larger and would not fit the holes in the Bespin Luke Torso .

I had to remove them completely and rig the arms to work . Basically I just glued a dowel rod through the torso to create pegs and then drilled holes in the shoulders to fit the pegs . The next problem was that the shoulders did not align properly with the torso , once again , just way too big . I carved them with a exacto blade and then sanded them smooth to get the proper shape (I also shaved off the watch that was molded on the right arm) .

The next step was to paint them that nice pale Englander flesh color to be as authentic as possible  

I did my best on the tattoos but unfortunately I didn't have great pics of all Alex's Tats so I had to improvise . I also thought he needed a Mum Heart tattoo  

I know the Shotgun and the rifle strapped across his back are GI Joe Accessories but I have no idea where the knife , grenade and pistol came from . Most of the accessories were very easy to add a little paint to but I spent a little more time on the rifle - it was molded in light blue so it had to be completely painted and then I added the strap - the strap is actually a thin wire that has been wrapped in a fabricay thread like material . It worked nicely because it can be bent and posed to fit the shape of the figure and make it look like it is hanging naturally .



but , as if having 2 custom figures of yourself wasn't enough , The General decided he wanted me to make one more for his collection

This design was inspired by the beater figure I used itself . The stormy was missing a arm and leg so I used part of a Han Solo leg and Bespin Luke arm to make the stubs ...

The only limb that is still movable is the left arm - to achieve the pose I had to glue everything else in place

At 1st I had just painted the Fett figure in the red/black scheme but I decided that another "boring" repaint just wouldn't do as much as everyone has raised the bar lately    

I stole the interchangeable head idea from psybertech (Thanks Jay   )

But I took a slightly different approach by using a peg glued into the torso and holes drilled into the heads ...

I thought this was a good alternative to getting that "removable helmet look" - even if I would have hollowed out the Fett head it would have never fit over a head . The Helmet can serve as either a head or a prop now  

The Darth Baracus head started off as a Farmboy Luke (Taiwan coo) - I carved the hair off (only leaving the mohawk) and sanded/rounded the head until it was a decent shape . I molded the chops , stash and ears with miliput , carved him a few scars and tried to give it a little more realistic paint job .

Hopefully everyone will figure out why I named him Darth Baracus

Most of the Wolfman is a Bespin Luke but I did replace his feet with Snaggletooth feet

I had to do quite a bit of work to the legs - removed holster , belt and the seams on the pants that didn't look right .

The sculpting was done with milliput
