Thanks Chris and Larry
I decided I had too many bald prop heads so I added hair to my "cage head" …

My Vulture Basket had issues that I had to repair and/or redo . The vultures head had nearly broken off at the neck and was just barely hanging on . I also did a complete repaint on the prop head laying in the basket .

Okay this next one is quite weird and disgusting but oddly cool
A few weeks ago a neighbor from down the street came walking up to our house with this carcass and asked if I wanted it . My immediate response was " ummm… not really " . She said that she thought it would look good with my Halloween display and I said " yeah I guess but does it stink ? " She then holds it up to her nose and sniffs it and says no . So I said okay , sure I'll see what I can do with it . Lets just say she's a odd gal

I think it would look great on my grill …
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
but , since my grill doesn't sit under our car port there's a good chance the squirrel would get wet when it rains and that would make it a real mess .
I would like to coat it in some kind of clear coat to preserve and protect it but I have no idea what product to use
anyone have any ideas of something I can spray or dip the squirrel in that would do this ???

This would work for the skeleton, but I'm not sure aboot the remaining hide.
"Spray the skeleton with several thin layers of polyurethane spray. Allow each layer to dry according to manufacturer instructions before spraying the next coat."

Re: Ourchickenshack's House of Horror : Return of The Living Dead Oklahoma Chainsaw Massacre
About 3 or 4 weeks ago I had went to Dollar General to do some shopping and spotted a plain and generic dog skeleton prop in their Halloween section for $8 so I bought it . A week later Julie decided she was going to dress as Cruella Deville (101 Dalmations) this year so I decided to make her a prop …

I did the gore with papertowels and liquid latex and the fur with felt . I was going for a comedic horror on it
I have ordered a bone shaped dog tag with "LUCKY" engraved on it to put on the dog as well but it still hasn't arrived.

Re: Ourchickenshack's House of Horror : Return of The Living Dead Oklahoma Chainsaw Massacre
Thanks guys , glad your enjoying the horror show
Unfortunately , due to so many props needing repair and being a bit limited on finances , I wasn't able to add much new stuff this year .
Thanks Clint I ended up using a Mod Podge spray my wife had . It worked okay but I would still like to coat it in something thicker eventually .
This raven has been stapled to the top of my torture chamber so many times over the last few years that I had ruined his feet . I decided to repair the feet and then mount it to a block of wood . Added a bit of gore and repainted the raven ...
[500][You must be registered and logged in to see this image.][/500]
Now I can mount it in place with a couple screws through the wood block :

The repair job on the raven's feet looks fantastic. I can't tell from the pictures that they were repaired.

Well done again this year.
Hope both you and Julie had a fantastic Halloween this year.
Julie would have horrified my youngest, when she was 3 or 4 years old. Back then, the 101 Dalmations was on an endless loop.

Thanks again guys
We actually had more kids then we expected this year as it was a week night and a little on the chilly side . Julie estimated at least 150 folks counting parents
We didn't get any pics except this one …
[500][You must be registered and logged in to see this image.][/500]
I think one of my wife's friends got a few pics that we'll have her send us
This was the last prop I was able to get repaired …
[500][You must be registered and logged in to see this image.][/500]
It was a mask that I bought 7 or 8 years ago and only wore once . Ever since then I have just used it in my display but this year it had practically fell apart . I taped it from the inside with duct tape and repaired all the splits the best I could and then filled the mask with foam to basically make it into a prop head . I went ahead and added eye inserts as well
This pic shows one of the most damaged areas …

Re: Ourchickenshack's House of Horror : Return of The Living Dead Oklahoma Chainsaw Massacre
Due to moving in April and then spending a couple months getting our old house ready to rent , I had a late start on Halloween this year . The porch and yard are different of course so that added more time to the set up since I had to find all new places for everything .
