Presumably it was just used to indicate that one factory was using a card back design that indicated the wrong factory, so it was covered up?

We do exactly the same thing at our factory with boxes that have been overprinted and can be used up at another market or over label errors that QC pick up so again the stock is not wasted. I'm not a big Cardback collector and wondered who else has an example stickered like this
