Hi,
This item actually wasn't mentioned on the Podcast. It's an A4 proof that was produced for me when I made the Han Towel (tea-towel) that I had as a swag item at Celebration London last year.
Essentially it is a scan of a fairly mint 12 back cardback that was then sent over to an art worker who worked with me to touch up and amend the bubble tear marks. I made an effort to leave somer of the scars and edgewear, the proof in this scale meant I could see all the stars and marks clearly before signing off. This was then used to make the towel and card wrap that was put around it to complete it s a gift item/swag.
So, nothing crazy collectible, but a one off that does have a personal history/significance

And we're live again...
If you thought last month's podcast was different, wait until you hear this one!
There are a few special one off changes, but we are not going to give away anymore than that.
Rich brings us an exciting, nay, game changing update on something which was hypothesised last month.
Rich is joined by a plethora of guests with Josh Blake and Bill Wills kicking it all off discussing a little known droids factory mockup. This is closely followed by Stephen Danley talking about his new website, facebook group and podcast as we discuss, Star Wars at the movies. We join Jamie Brown for a quick GW Acrylic update, but wrap up discussing the chances of a new fake in the hobby.
Jez hosts yet another ram jammed New Acquisitions section with items ranging from $1 figures and car boot sale finds to extremely rare Hungarian carded Fetts and Uzay ERGs. There is discussion about an amazing line up of Die Cast Landspeeders and the crew have a huge nostalgia #hit with some special vintage items, and the lads take a look at Darth Vaders Star Destroyer.
This month Richard is hit with the Rapid Fire questions and is truly called out as a MOC collector.
Join us and our 7 guests for what may be the biggest temporary shakeup since George Lucas dropped the revenge title in 1982!

Re: The Vintage Rebellion Podcast 2016 and beyond
That Yak Face story was legendary. That said, I can't help but wonder why the shop owner didn't just go the auction route. You guys didn't specify the actual numbers, but one can assume it was well below market value. It's fantastic that he wants to help out collectors and the community in general, I guess he picked them up for a steal.
I will be picking up a couple of those cardback/figure cases from GW. There are certainly a couple high end pieces where that would be a presentation I'd be happy with.
Keep up the good work. Considering it was just the two of you, the structure held up pretty well!

Re: The Vintage Rebellion Podcast 2016 and beyond
Thanks Chris - we don't want the value to get out really but yes we didn't pay market value. He didn't go the auction route because the way some members of the FB community went on was ridiculous and he was annoyed. He's also pleased that these have gone to people who will not flip. If they went to ebay he'd have fees to pay, packaging risks.... he's also potentially got new collectors to deal with now.
We'd tried to keep the structure but couldn't have it all. We had a BTT section recorded but it wasn't edited in time.

Re: The Vintage Rebellion Podcast 2016 and beyond
Hi Chris, I think I must have been in the shop for about 40 minutes before I even got one of the Yaks out of the star case. I was more interested in talking about his shop, collecting, the community and what happened on the Facebook group.
So what happened with the auction?? He said he was massively put off and a bit overwhelmed. It was suggested to him that he put an initial post on the group about auctioning the MOCs including the Yaks, and almost instantly he was inundated with people bombarding him with demanding messages. He said that some were really rude, impatient and with almost a sense of entitlement and he quickly came to the conclusion that he'd prefer to sell them in the shop. It was too much hassle doing it online for him.
Were they a bargain? Well it was still the most I've ever paid for anything Star Wars. Below market value yes, but only by a year or two I reckon. It is strange, that a carded Yak was never on my radar, however now I have him in hand I absolutely love it.
It's funny how the Star Wars world goes. 9 months ago I had to sell all but one of my carded figures (kept my Meccano Jawa which was a gift and my Luke X-Wing Focus) to be able to afford to buy a house. I knew I wasn't out of the hobby but would have to curtail my spending/collecting, but I never thought I'd ever own a carded Yak. Fortunately I had saved a few quid up for the Farthest From event which took place in May, but for some reason nothing took my fancy and I went home without any vintage. Thank goodness I kept hold of the money and only had to add a bit to it to buy the Yak.
I spent ages looking at the better of the two, comparing the bubbles, any shelf wear, shine, warping, other imperfections etc and came to the conclusion that I'd be happier with the punched hanger tab one. The punched one was brighter and a bit cleaner. Furthermore, unnoticeable until I looked closely, there was am indentation of a handwritten price on the front of the card, either from a pen directly onto the card or written on something on top of the card. However, even with some of these issues; the fact that the bubbles are pretty decent and the cards aren't ruined by sticker damage removal, I think we both got ourselves something very nice. They look even better in a decent acrylic case and I'm sure Richard will love his when he gets it next month.

THE VINTAGE REBELLION PODCAST : EPISODE 38 - An Aussie, The Ashes and a Freaky Chewbacca
The boys return for their 38th episodic show with friend and fellow collector Simon McOwan joining the team for guest hosting duties.
Forget the Return of the Jedi, this month sees the Return of the Quiz, with accusations of cheating flying around on all sides!
Aussie Lee Harris takes a nostalgic look back at his childhood, whilst also discussing his current collecting stance, as well as depressing everyone with a tale of burning toys!
Grant is joined by Jonathan McElwain for the first part discussion on highlights for the US food market for the original Star Wars movie. Jonathan is an expert so expect to learn a lot about a subject rarely discussed. Yum, Yum!
In this months NA, Jez and the lads (plus an extra 2 special guests) discuss a variety of purchases including variants, some in the wild 3 pack finds, a lovely story which shows that even Cloud City Clouds can have a silver lining, and the mighty Imperial Shuttle gets the once over.
Rich has the pleasure to interview Ross Barr, the face of CAS and brings us 3 stories from the vintage collecting community.
So much rammed into just over 5 hours we hope you enjoy the show!!!!!!!

A blast from the past with Blockbusters
I thought the interviews and the collector stories were great this episode and I really like the sound of CAS Preserved grade
I've always had a soft spot for cut and beater cardbacks and anything that stops some getting opened is great for the vintage hobby
I've got about an hour and a half left to listen to tomorrow, great work guys

Thanks for the feedback guys. It's really important to us to get people on to tell their stories so i'm glad that this is getting positive feedback. Blockbusters still makes me chuckle. That took hours and hours to edit. I can't believe how little they know about Star Wars. I mean come on! What's the first word spoken in A New Hope?? Um Doom, Um Don't, Um oh this is a hard one...
Cheers fellas.

Episode 37 review
This is one of the most unusual episodes in a while. With Stuart & Grant away, it was up to Richard & Jez to hold down the fort.
They felt a little bit lonely, so they called on a couple friends. Joining them in hosting duties is Mark & Scott.
Mark & Scott did a fantastic job filling in for the missing TVR crew. Mark’s story about sneaking into the the movie theatre with your father was great. Also the story about the Jawa MOC behind the drain pipe outside the store was nice to hear. I don’t remember too much about seeing the movies in the theatres & shopping for toys. Scott’s story about the figures & watching the movies, goes hand in hand. That’s a similar story with most of us.
Chris Faucet’s update about the Slave 1 was fantastic.

Jez’s first hand account of how he came by the 3 Tri-Logo Yak Face MOC’s was awesome. It’s alway fun taking a little detour from your travels & going into a vintage toy shop that you’ve never been into before. Sounds like the shop owner was a fantastic person to talk & deal with.
A Yak face MOC is something that I’ll never be able to afford, so I’m happy for you, Richard & Steve Savoury who ended up the third Yak Face MOC.
It’s funny Richard doesn’t consider himself a MOC collector, with so many MOC’s in his collection.

I have to correct Richard. The package of trading card wax wrappers is from the whole TXI team. It’s his reward for being one of the most active forum members & posters. Because he received a C8 droid in Orlando, we had to come up with some special for him. We knew that he’s collecting trading cards, so this would be a nice addition to his card collection.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
The Droid Factory mock up play set interview with Josh Blake & Bill Willis was very interesting. To see some of the un-produced toys would be something to see in person some day. Hopefully they make a travelling museum show out of some of these great items for everyone to see.
Star Wars at the Movies is the new side project by Steve Danley. This is going to be a great site. To hear all the stories of how Star Wars was presented to the populations from around the globe.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
The story of the MOC with the possible split card back & front from a Vinyl Cape Jawa is an interesting delemma. Especially with AFA rejecting it for grading because of possible glue being found. Hopefully Richard will give us an update with the grading report.
I still laugh every time I think of Richard going to a horse & cart “boot sale”.
[400][You must be registered and logged in to see this image.][/400]
Jamie Brown’s interview about GW Acrylic’s new products was interesting to hear. I really enjoyed seeing some of the ship stands & other products in Orlando. They are so temping when I get my collection displays built.
I never had the Star Destroyer Play Set as a child, so it was interesting to hear the discussion, good or bad about it.

Thanks again guys for another great episode.
This is just a small sample of the podcast, so I urge everyone to give it a listen.
