What are your vintage collecting goals for 2016? Empty What are your vintage collecting goals for 2016?

Post by ChristianC Tue Jan 05, 2016 10:08 am

Hey dudes, so what are you guys hoping to achieve this year in regards to your vintage collecting?

My goals aren't too high this year as my buying has slowed down a bit these past 18 months. The social side has taken up most of my time in the hobby. I'm also pretty happy with my collection at the moment and am not in a real rush to buy anything in particular. There are though a few things I'll grab this year if the price is right.

- MOC wise, I'm prioritising a trilogo Luke Bespin (yeah f*ck you @General Kahn ), a Luke Bespin (alternate photo) and a Trilogo Luke Stormie.

- Variants: I'd love an orange hair Luke Farmboy but prices just aren't reasonable at the moment so I'll wait until this variant calms down in popularity (presuming it does). A pale-face PBP Luke XWP would be cool, plus a complete LL Luke Jedi and a Glasslite Luke Farmboy.

- On the bootleg side I'm keen on a complete Model Trem Luke Jedi and a Luke Hoth.

- Would love any Luke proof but prices on these are crazy right now.

Other than collecting, I hope that I can continue to learn as much as I did last year. I'd like to improve my knowledge around the Luke Farmboy variant and also learn more about the entire pre-production process.

Obviously continuing to build up this forum will be one of my most important goals for the year; along with continuing to blog on my vintage collecting website.

How about you guys? Will be fun reviewing these posts at the end of the year to see how we all went.

Christian

Things were pretty quiet for me on the collecting front in 2015, but I hope to make up for it this year. Very Happy
My main priority is to continue adding to my Stormtrooper cardbacks, loose Ledy's and complete my moc MIM run.
As always, I'll also be on the lookout for bargain priced loose variants, and cardbacks.

In 2015 I actually started to add some more Lili Ledys to my collection. I would like to go further with the Lili Ledys but it depends on the prices, which are pretty high at the moment. So I'll look out for some good deals. Maybe some loose variants I don't have yet.
Actually I really wish to had more time for all my custom projects in mind. Another project will probably be to arrange a fitting display for my collection.

My goal for 2016 is to finally get my collection out of storage and on display. That will require finishing the reno on my office / man cave & build in some display cabinets. popcorn

Finally finishing off my 85 graded loose figure collection. Only 10 left to go! Thankfully the rare ones were got a while ago, as prices are getting a bit crazy.

Last year I focused mainly on building my PBP and Poch collection.
Although many figures need upgrading, I'm very happy to have them, so this year I would like to focus more on building up my Ledy and possibly Glasslite collections, as I am still lacking even some of the more basic Ledy figures.

This year my main goal will be to find at least one figure at a realistic price...... Yep, I like to set my bar pretty damn high cheeky

Got a lot of changes going on this year so collecting may have to take the bench for a while until I get my shit together. How ever I will be definitely hoping to add at least a few bits. Gonna try and pick up some of the Kenner variants I'm missing that I simply haven't got round to getting yet,

I also hope to add a few more LL and PBP figures to the collection..... @chris.75 dibs on any of yours that you upgrade dude Wink (especially chocolate legs Han Smile )

Also hope to add a couple more Lando Skiff MOC's to the focus as well Smile

I can never set any particular collecting goals because I just get things that I like when I see them What a Face

I guess I would be happiest finding more weird and unusual fan made Star Wars stuff like these : [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

They really are some of my most prized Star Wars items cheers

I have been seriously considering putting together a Misfit Star Wars figure collection - just the most worn , damaged , colored , painted , burned or any child related damage / customizing I can find What a Face

I have quite a few I have already been saving over the years but have never actually looked for them - maybe now would be a good time to start Very Happy

Among my focus:
Luke Farmboy orange hair
Luke Farmboy DT
Luke Farmboy Poch
Luke Farmboy Meccano 2nd version
VCJ

Outside of my focus:
Figures that are visually different from regular figures like dark brown rebel soldier, various coloured ledy cape figures, different moulds etc. I hope I get the chance to start that second variant focus with a Burgundy Squid Head that is said to be a price here on this forum. So I'll try my best in order to win the competition!
clapping

Sad thing is I will depend on people doing payment plans for the high priced figures but I've met people that do so in the past and present that are willing to accept that and they have never been disappointed. Fingers crossed for some highlights to add to the collection.

Fine question Christian, fine question and one that is not so easily decided upon just yet but ideas are always lingering in the mind.

Not picking up that Orange haired Luke variant a few years back is something I've been beating myself up about for months now. Good luck on your search this year for one at a reasonable price Very Happy  because Lord knows if I find one I'm snatching it up too.

My list contains what would be greatly considered if I locate.

I will continue to look for non Kenner Die Cast ships.
Keeping an eye out for a loose Takara Vader, Stormie and 3PO.
Same with the MOC Alternate sculpt Vader and a Stormie too.
Deciding if I want to drop a dime for a VCJ?
Bowcaster for my Takara Chewbacca
Eyes are open for the elusive 8" Takara C3PO
A loose Glasslite R2D2

To name a few potential buys.

Ultimately I will also have to decide if I want to sell off some items to help fund the above items?  Decisions, decisions, decisions

It's great seeing what sort of treasures we are all looking for.  The immediate benefit is it helps to identify who needs what in one easy to view thread.
Who knows, this very thread could end up with people getting grail pieces as a result of people viewing this!

There are still loads of vintage items i'd like to get as my collection is still relatively small, however my primary goals would be (in no particular order;
Loose Skiff
Luke X-Wing Palitoy SW MOC
Luke X-Wing Miscard
Any decent Miscard
Luke X-Wing Model Trem
Complete Y-Wing
Luke X-Wing Baggie
Luke X Wing - Non Sonic Welded
Luke X-Wing Pre Production
But seriously looking forward to the next Farthest From and Celebration London, especially the room sales.

After the few things I have got on hold at the moment., won't be much.

Which is Two Hardcopy 3po palmtalkers , one painted which is different plaint schem for released ones, one unpainted. There are not vintage but still a cool addition to my 3po focus, they are also the ones that were presented to LFL / Hasbro for approval.

I also have a Tsukuda ROTJ 65 a card on hold. I already have the 65 B card Tsukuda so that will be both them marked off the list.

I will be saving all money after that for CE3 , looking fwd to meeting everyone at that. Then 27th July me and the Mrs have out first baby due which will no doubt slow my collecting away down after July. So CE will be my last blowout. After that I will prob try finish off my loose collection which I have never done due to having a focus.

Would love if someone has a Revenge 3po proof card at Ce3 for me as I keep missing the fucker or they keep coming up at the wrong time. Like Andys at the moment.

Cheers

Vince
