*New* Vintage Mexican Bootlegs

I am sure you all have heard this by now, but apparently new bootlegs from Mexico are floating around in large numbers that were created within the last year (or maybe a little longer now).

I am no expert, but most of the conversations about these new ones are about figures that are nothing like was seen before (transparent, translucent, bright and mixed colors, etc).

Here is one I picked up that should jump out...[300]

Well, the one on the right I have had for over 2 years. The one on the left came with Chewie.
The cape is massively different. It is basically like tissue paper! The one I've had for a while with the white cape is made of a thin plastic or vinyl. Much different.

But what really concerns me is that whatever the figures are made of seem identical in hand. They both have the same feel and weight and texture. I can describe it like a very hard and dense wax.
The only real difference is the new one has a smell to it.

Here are a few more Leias I just picked up (two on the right with the capes - the capeless white one I've had for close to two years).  But the two new ones have the same tissue paper like capes and same smell.

Again the figures seem to be the same as my older ones, and they ALL feel and appear to be made from the same stuff.

This is what bothers me the most. All I have read so far about these, but maybe I missed more, are the new "hip" looking ones. Nothing comparing them to older, known examples to what is starting to flood ebay.

Or, are these new bootlegs being sold, paired with old ones?

I doubt it. I have seen so many Leias up for sale lately (and Luke Bespin among others). So these too have to be modern.

I know I have my 2 Leia Bespins for abuot two years and these new ones seem to be about a year old... or is it possible the new operation started earlier and what I have in my collection is modern?
I have a Luke Bespin from about two years ago and one from the same seller and inventory that Chewie and the Leias came from. The Luke too is nearly identical to my old one... except that smell on the new one. (sorry no pics right now).

Jay, hopefully Daren will chime in as I saw him on the member list. We discussed these bootlegs. The thoughts that we came up with are some of the original 90's stock is still floating around and that they are being mixed with some of these newer ones. Of course capes and weapons (most of them are still on sprues) are also being tossed into the mix. So the figure may be from the 90's stuff but the other parts maybe newer. As well as these they are putting out greedo same as chewbacca, several new unmovable limb figures including jawa, yoda, and gammorean guard. I don't recall all of the new ones, but not all of them are bright colored. In fact I think a brown chewbacca and I know a green greedo has been seen.

This is my bootleg Leia. I got here several years ago in a lot. Don't no much about her. No cape no weapon. But the same massive hard wax like material you already mentioned. Any ideas?

I quite often forget to hit the send button, after editing and re-reading a message. Then just close the tab or refresh the page. Especially if I'm enjoying a beverage.

the mobile view is very red with quite a basic layout design. The classic view is much more how you would expect an online forum to look. Also in classic view you can not see the attachment pics, without following a link first. In classic view the pics are there.

Ahh then its definatly mobile view.

thanks for letting us know Darren, I think we are currently experiencing a few minor glitches with mobile view, hopefully these issues will be remedied soon .
