Canadian ToyCon in Burlington Ontario
After Clint pointed out a great resource detailing all the toy conventions in Ontario, (during an awesome interview on the Vintage Rebellion) I was finally able to make it out to one of them; the Canadian ToyCon in Burlington, Feb 19th 2017. I was just about the first person there and got exactly what I showed up for, along with a couple other bargains.
I've been to plenty of comic conventions but this was the first time I've ever been to one that was strictly toys. Given the relatively small size of the room and number of vendors, I was shocked by the selection.
I ended up coming away with several weapons I was missing (along with redundant figures of course) and one fairly inexpensive vintage moc. Once I've had a chance to do some proper photos of what I picked up I'll add them to the post but I thought I'd share some general shots of the convention.

Here's some Star Trek (The Motion Picture) Mocs that I'm sure you're all super excited to see:

Kenner Aliens toys, I love these but I don't need to start lol

Nice looking dicast falcon for $50 CAD

I never knew they sold a Mace Windu with a severed Jango Head, bold lol

This was a 20 Back Chewie with a cut POP for $250 Cad, I was thinking about it but decided to avoid it because I didn't know if it was a good deal and also It would kind of hurt my feelings if it went for much less than $200 lol

I also coincidentally met the subject of a documentary which I shot last year; Alfonso, owner of StudioComix, who had a booth at the event:

There was also a couple gentlemen transporting the 'arc of the covenant' through the parking lot as I was leaving:

I hope you guys enjoyed the photos. As I said, I'll post my loot once I've had a chance to take some decent shots. Here's one

Re: Canadian ToyCon in Burlington Ontario
Well done. Burlington is one of my favourite shows to go too.
Now, you need to start looking beyond the toys, and at all the little gems that are hidden there as well.

Thanks for the pics Chris, looks like a great con! God I love comic conventions, I feel like a little kid just before entering. So exciting!
Looking forward to seeing your complete haul.

Re: Canadian ToyCon in Burlington Ontario
There's a lot of talk about "other toy lines" lol not sure I know what you're getting at lol
I try to limit myself to one example from those, like my mail away cloaked predator and Jetfire, clearly the best looking transformer lol
Thanks for all the comments. I was really shocked how much was available in this fairly small room. Will post some more pics by the weekend if not sooner.

Re: Canadian ToyCon in Burlington Ontario
So beyond the Cloud Car Pilot MOC, I also picked up an AT-AT driver here and a couple other loose figures. I'n my haste I bought a repro blaster with a big-head Han for a steep price even if the weapon was real.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Interesting that even at a ToyCon where (presumably) many people would know the difference, you've got people trying to pull a fast one. I saw another Han with a POTF2 blaster, when I pointed it out to the guy he said "that's the way it came".
There was another Burlington ToyCon last Sunday at the same venue, and one more this month if I'm not mistaken.

Nice updates Chris.
Don't worry, you wouldn't be the first one to get fooled by a repro....

As soon as I took a closer look at it I was like "the lines on that hand grip are far too crisp" lol
Re: Canadian ToyCon in Burlington Ontario
Canadian ToyCon in Burlington happened again today, here's a look at what was on offer and what I picked up:
1. What a room full of toy people in Burlington Ontario looks like
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
2. Some vintage-sploytation
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
3. Really nice POTF Skiff sold right infront of me for the asking price. I was a bit interested, this makes a really nice display piece.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
4. Seller was asking $450 for this battle wagon, it was opened but the parts were apparently still in the plastic bags.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
5. This guy had litterally like a 50/50 split of repro and real weapons, needlessly confusing lol he said he thinks hes gonna stop putting the repros out.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
6. This is the really big Hasbro AT-AT from a few years back. Never saw one in person before, really impressive.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
7. Black series and a bit more vintage-sploytation
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
8. There was probably 3 or 4 dedicated Joe booths
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
9. This was pretty hilarious, a 1997 jabba on a foam supermarket meat tray
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
10. DSC with what appears to be a real vader cape (?) it was justr $2 so I got it just incase the cape was real lol
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
11. Falcon canopy I picked up because mine didnt have the sticker - $5
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
I got a couple other things that deserve better photos but thats about it. Certainly more quality vintage items than the last time I attended this event.

Re: Canadian ToyCon in Burlington Ontario
I almost drove down to Burlington this morning for the show. But I've been busy with house reno's all weekend. Happy wife, happy life.
The amount of vintage changes from show to show. Some times, lots of MOC's, some times very little SW.
There is usually some hidden gimcrack gems as well.
Thanks for posting the pictures.

Re: Canadian ToyCon in Burlington Ontario
Wow, they're still at the same place after all these years?
I did stop going because there was little vintage and modern was extremely overpriced. That $250 complete skiff was a good price though - not surprised it was picked up. Probably on ebay for double that now, lol.
I don't own the battle wagon and want it, but that's pretty steep. Not horribly overpriced, but I think it's a bit above normal.
That big AT-AT looks incomplete, but at $25, if I read that sticker properly, is a hell of a good deal. Things goes for a couple of hundred on ebay.
The Vader cape does indeed look legit. At $2, nice job.
Let me know the next time they have a show. It's about halfway between me and you Chris, so we could meet up there and chit chat at least. If Clint goes as well, even better.

There's one tomorrow in Toronto on the Canadian ToyCon site, I might go but I think they did start charging admission lol then they're back at that Burlington holiday inn on Sept 17.

I'm already back. Only needed an hour to wander around.
Meet Chris, while standing in line to enter. It was a pleasure meeting and chatting with him. He had his camera, and might have taken some pictures. I of course, forgot my camera.
I picked up a few things.
2 Canadian ESB colouring books that I can use for prizes or to give away.
I did get 4 nice hand made cork coasters for my self. They will look nice in my office, too set my coffee cup on in the mornings. I'll add some pictures, later this afternoon. I might use the coasters as my gimcrack entry for this month.

Re: Canadian ToyCon in Burlington Ontario
Didn't really get many photos. Just imagine it like those first two I posted up there but just less Star Wars lol
I picked up some loose figures and a pair of Canadian Dulok mocs. The price was right.
It was great to meet Clint outside of the matrix he sure doesn't waste time at these things. I find that I'm in a bit less of a rush, for some reason the stuff I end up interested in doesn't seem to have much competition lol You can really see it all in an hour though, not a huge event.
There was this cereal box guy who had a table with a back wall, covered in flat cereal boxes which was 20-30 feet wide, I had no idea there was so much interest, first time I'd seen anything like that.

Re: Canadian ToyCon in Burlington Ontario
Here is another Canadian ToyCon in Burlington, Ontario which I shot for our new YouTube channel:
Who can spot an item which I also photographed at the Mississauga Collectors expo (like 5 Months ago) which still has not sold?? Hint: It's not a Star Wars item, and the camera comes up close to it.

I'm seriously thinking about going to the show tomorrow. As of 1 hr ago. The guy that runs it, says it's still going to happen.
