Got a box back from CAS
I got a couple things back from CAS after a good, long wait, and I thought I'd post this to show you guys how it was packed in case anyone is interested.
My items were essentially the size of two graded mocs. I had seen a couple photos on CAS's instagram of a custom acrylic job they do where they mount a graded loose figure infront of a cardback, and I had a couple pieces in mind that would be a grat fit for that kind of display.
GW acrylic does make a case that can do this, but its designed to be universal so the figure compartment is large enough to fit the gam guard and amanaman, I think they should do a slim version, because between the two options, this product from CAS looks a lot better at the moment.

They had a third bag which had the top-loaders and figure cases which I dropped off the items in.

These two photos came from CAS after the items were completed, thats a great service. I've heard that they have a couple new hires on the acrylic side so return times should be a little faster now. All in all, I'm pretty happy with the results.

Interesting idea. Does the case open from the top or is it completely sealed?
I see a grade of 85 on the stormy. Or is it just a reference number?

Nope, its sealed, the stormie and the fett both got an 85 grade.
I kind kind of wish it did open, especially because when I sent these in, literally like 4 months ago I didn't know I was gonna get a huge collection of Canadian cardbacks. That being said, the one from GW does open, but it really doesnt look that good at all IMO, there is room for someone to really fill a gap there, maybe CAS should make a sliding bottom one, but the way they mount the figures, it would be pretty hard to take them in and out and still have it look so fitted.
Now that I see how these turned out, I can't imagine displaying them any other way.
This is the sliding bottom one from GW, doesn't really do it for me. I think it would be an easy fix/modification, but maybe they are selling well enough for them. It just looks like too much going on with that big box and the figure stand etc

Re: Got a box back from CAS
What is the grade for? Is it on the figure or on the card back?
What did it cost ruffly, to ship it back and forth, as well as the grading / encasement?
I'll try and mock something up using a star case, top loader and one of those clam shell cases.

Re: Got a box back from CAS
The grade is just for the loose figure. The cardback is mentioned as a Kenner Canada cardback on the label but ignored in regard to the grade.
It cost about the same as grading a loose figure (which I find weird and would never do but I somehow find this awesome and more interesting) It was around $50 each. around another $50 for shipping. I wouldn't do it for any cardbacks less interesting than these, lol if I stumble upon even more GDE's maybe then, but its certainly too expensive for anything thats not an amaaazing cardback. It took me a while to find two figures that were good enough to commit to them too lol

You made sure to match a "Made in Hong Kong" COO figure to go with the cards, I hope?

Yup, in fact if you look way back in your PMs I think you'd see that I even asked you about it.

Well as far as trivial nonsense goes, thats up there lol but hopefully CAS would have said something were they a coo which never appeared on that card.
Re: Got a box back from CAS
The casing looks great mate. I'm in a weird place where I dislike grading but love acrylic.
Love how you got your cat involved!

Re: Got a box back from CAS
Thanks, guys, if there were some way to convince GW to just make a better-looking sliding bottom one, I'd probably like that more
As it stands, I'm really happy with how these turned out.
I'd only do more if I found more GDE pyramid cards, and even then, only if the condition was really good.
