Chris.75's customs
I finally got around to making my Garindan custom figure, yesterday evening
I have had the various parts for a while now, but never seemed to find the time to do it.
This is pretty basic as customs go, I just did a boil and pop head swap on a vintage DSC figure, using a POTF2 Garindan head.
I then removed the chest emblems, using a very small amount of acetone. Then I painted the beater arms and legs and belt, back to their original black and silver, as well as adding some silver highlights to his eye goggle thingies. I may paint the moulded hood a lighter grey, at some point, just so that he matches better with the vintage body.
The com link is very crude, its just a painted matchstick with some string wrapped around it, then painted. It looks pretty crappy in these close up macro pics, but when in hand it looks ok for now. I will replace it soon, probably using lego accessories.
The gun came with the POTF Garindan figure and the cape is actually from a Kenner Friar Tuck figure, which I have pinned at the back, to make a little smaller.
James ('ourchickenshack') very kindly gave me a Luke Jedi cape for the purpose of customising this figure. But I couldn't bring myself to dye a vintage accessory, especially with the way prices are going at the moment. So I will save it, just in case, for a future Luke Jedi coo variant. Sorry James
I now have a spare DSC head in which to alter my Rebel Fleet Trooper custom, which at the moment has a modern head.
I will add my very limited collection of custom figures to this thread soon,
thanks for looking

Re: Chris.75's customs
Very nice rendition of Garindan Chris
I actually think the Friar Tuck Cape looks better then a Jedi Luke Cape would have looked anyway , particularly the way the hood lays
No need to apologize for not using the cape I sent you - I am sure it will be useful to you somewhere down the line

Looks like you are off to a good start on your Custom Vintage Garindan. Here is some info that I have gathered that will help make your Garinda figure screen accurate, especially his uniform color :-

Re: Chris.75's customs
Great job on this. There is a custom section over on rs and a guy recently posted a garinidan he did that was equally cool. He used a sculpted robes figure (obi wan I think) and he used a vinyl piece for the cape as he said it was more accurate in his opinion to what Kenner may have done had they produced this figure during the Star Wars era. Yours is also cool with the soft good cape. Keep up the great work.

Re: Chris.75's customs
Thank you all for your kind words of encouragement
It would be great to have a vinyl cape version too Clint, so thank you for any spare vinyl that you may have
Once I have bought a few more acrylic paints (which I will be doing soon for an upcoming Tantive XI project ) and have built up my confidence a bit more.
I may well have a go at painting my garindan in more screen accurate colours, thank you for the advice and additional info Peter

That sounds like a cool Garindan custom over on RS Bryan, do you have a link, as I don't visit RS much these days.

Re: Chris.75's customs
You been bit by the custom bug my friend. I have a few that I did that I would have liked to have seen carded way back when like the Rebel Fleet Trooper but for me personally I just like to let my imagination run wild as you noticed with the Vader I did for you . Clint also did a very cool Garindan that I now have here is a pic of that one he did an awesome job.

Darth stranger's post. I thought he used obi wan legs, but looking agin he used the same imperial legs and sculpted the robes. The color choice was a bit odd with the blue, but it works great in my opinion.

Thanks Larry, yeah I love my custom Vader, and I intend to post some pics up of him in this thread, along with the cool DSD custom that I got from JIm

Thanks for the link Bryan, that guys Garindan is very unique looking.
I really like the way he has done the moulded plastic cape over the figures torso and legs.
It works really well with the moulded hood of the POTF 2 head
