Question Regarding Displaying a Vehicle Box

So I've got this complete Canadian ESB Slave 1, with a box (and a plastic bag which I assume held Han?) but no insert for the ship. I want to display it but it would take up a lot of space in a cabinet.

What do you guys think about flattening it and putting it in a frame? What should I be worried about when doing this (beyond things like acid free material and UV resistant glass)?

Its in pretty rough shape but its intact. the original tape has either been removed or degraded to the point where a former owner added a lot of new tape to the box (to keep it rigid I guess). I would have to cut some of this unoriginal tape on one end in order to flatten it but the tape is all barely hanging on as it is.

I'd like to put it flat in a frame beside the cabinet with the loose slave 1.

Oh yeah and just so it's clear, I do not plan on opening the glued seal on the inside, I'd just fold it over so if be covering two sides and one of the end pieces.

Thoughts?

That's a good idea, I would just make sure it's not framed too tightly. So that in case one day you want to take it out it's not been pressed too hard and you'll then be able to "fold-back" the box in shape.

Hmm lol I expected some horrifying oversight.

It's not something I would necessarily do, but if you're not breaking any factory seals, I guess it would be ok to display the box flat. As Nicolas said, don't press it too tight as you may weaken the seams.

So right Steve, it felt like simply beginning to fold it was putting undue pressure on the 2 edges that were folding lol I have decided against it.
