Re: LIGHTSABER MYSTERY - Different Sculpt Or Worrying Reproduction
Damn I've only got one yellow and one green, I'll have to check them out when I get home. Crazy that things like this are still being discovered, this could have been a pretty early repro
Re: LIGHTSABER MYSTERY - Different Sculpt Or Worrying Reproduction
Chris, put some pics up of your sabers. The early repro ones are pretty easy to see to seasoned collectors, so we can help out for sure. Color is way off, there's sculpt issues, and you can usually tell they have been painted. I don't know if these new ones have been around long enough yet to have infiltrated the market much.

They both appear to be the same mold, one side has poorly defined buttons and on the other side they're more clearly defined.

Unfortunately Chris they are both painted repro's which were mass produced in the '90's. You can also find them cast in coloured plastic.

Re: LIGHTSABER MYSTERY - Different Sculpt Or Worrying Reproduction
I was thinking that once I looked at the differences on both sides. Whammy.
Re: LIGHTSABER MYSTERY - Different Sculpt Or Worrying Reproduction
Yeah, sorry man, Steve is right. Once you get some legit ones in hand, the differences are night and day.
Wish we had better news for you. Do you know where you got them, and did you pay much?

Yeah I have a pretty good relationship with the guy I got them from and I didn't pay much. Was in with a big lot of figures.
I think it's possible he didn't know. I'll update when I've got some news on that.

Re: LIGHTSABER MYSTERY - Different Sculpt Or Worrying Reproduction
I have spoke with AJ and as suspected these are now confirmed in blue.
I'm going to launch a facebook campaign to try and draw these out as I strongly suspect there are a lot more of these than people think but just don't realise.
It would be nice to bag a blue one to get an idea of it in hand. On a glance it appears to have all the traits like sparkly finish and also has the same mould imperfections which once again point this been produced from a one cavity mould used for all three colours.

Really unfortunate about these sabers. I found a green one on my collection. I purchased it a couple years ago on eBay for $15. Now green sabers are going for $30!

This thread might have some the answers that you are looking for. Both the Taiwan & HK sabers come in light & dark green.

Only just come across this thread.
As you all know by now - these are fakes. I have had one in my suspect tray since at least 2010 - so they have been around for a while. Like Chris one slipped in with a bunch of figures I bought. Circulation is relatively low.
Funny though that a blue is out too; I didn't come across that... Wondering if the repro mould is still being used.
