My Collection
[/section_header]By Chris.75
I have been collecting since the mid to late eighties, when I received some figures and playsets as Christmas presents. Although I have always had enthusiasm for the hobby, I have not been collecting continually throughout that time. I have taken many breaks from the hobby over the years, but I got back into collecting, seriously again, about four years ago.
We moved property a few years back, so I have been fortunate enough to have a small walk in cupboard, in which to display my collection.
However I am now running out of room, so need to re think the shelving layout in there, and see If I can come up with a better way of displaying everything in such a confined space.

Glad you like the Sandcrawler Bill, its a great vehicle, but it can be temperamental as hell sometimes it works, sometimes not, sometimes it will only drive backwards
It would be great to see a Limelight from you as well Bill, I bet you have an impressive run of Poch figures by now.

That goes for you too Steve, I'd love to see more of your collection

Re: [ptcoo] Chris.75 : My Collection
I've updated my limelight with a few new pics, including an updated Lili Ledy group shot, with individual pics of each of my Ledy figures.
Updated pics of my 12" collection, and I have added pics of all of my mini rigs too.
thanks for looking,
Chris.

Great updates Chris! You have one of the best variant collections that I've seen plus those photos are stunning.
I love the way you are posing in your collection room with your crotch stuck out like a real mack daddy.
Top stuff all-round mate!

Re: [ptcoo] Chris.75 : My Collection
thanks Christian, I didn't realise my crotch was so prominent, or protruding in my pic
Still a long way to go on the variant collecting game though, before I am anywhere near in the same league as some of the other guys on here like Henrik, Kenneth or Marco.

Thank you Larry
The Vader figure is a Polish bootleg, with practically all the figures in this line they used the same limbs, for all their figures.
he should have a cape and sword, but my example is incomplete.

You do have a fantastic collection Chris
Your display is clean , neat and well organized . I've said it plenty of times before but I have to say it again - your photography skills are second to none
Please replace my 12 " figure photos in the library guide with yours when you get the chance - your pics are way better then my are and we need the best for the guides

Re: [ptcoo] Chris.75 : My Collection
Thank you all for your very kind comments guys
Thank you very much james, although I think that the photos you took for the 12" line, in the library section, are very good and do not really need replacing.
But I am not all that happy with the ones I took originally, of R2, Vader and Boba Fett, so I will re do all of them, for better continuity
I have just received a much larger light tent, in the post today. It measures 80cm x 80cm x 80cm (30") so will accommodate the 12" line of figures much better than my other light tent did.
It is also big enough to fit most vehicles and playsets inside too, so I can re shoot some of those pics as well

Re: [ptcoo] Chris.75 : My Collection
Congrats on getting your new light tent Chris mate You have had some stunning results with your old one, your a bit of a David Bailey on the quietchris.75 wrote:I have just received a much larger light tent, in the post today. With these light tents do you use a natural light source or just rely on the lamps you get with the tent, or a combination of both The one I have I don't think the lamps are powerful enough to light up the tent but they really do get hot

Re: [ptcoo] Chris.75 : My Collection
Thanks Andy, the new light tent is a pop up tent, so although large, it is easy to store and assemble when needed.
My smaller light tent is permanently set up to take pics at any time
with regards to the lamps that come with the light tent, you are right, they do get very hot quite quickly. They often burn out after a few uses, especially if left on for long periods of time.
I replaced the bulbs in my lamps with LED light bulbs, which cast a better colour and do not get hot at all, so last much longer.
here is a link to the ebay site that i get my bulbs from: LINK
You can see pics of my light tent set up here: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Chris thanks for the links mate, I'll check the led bulbs out

You have a lot more lights going on than the 2 you get with the light tent, I don't think my 2 lights are giving enough light to illuminate the tent
Chris I don't want to spoil your great limelight with questions bro, you can move these to the taking pics thread mate

Re: [ptcoo] Chris.75 : My Collection
No worries Andy, but yeah it may be of use to others if this bit is moved to the 'taking photos tips' thread
You're right though, two small lamps is not really enough, without plenty of natural light too.
If you do not have spare desk lamps to use, as additional lighting. You could try taking pics with the light tent outside, on a dry day. Or on a rainy day, by placing the light tent as close to an inside widow as possible.
If you are using a compact camera with limited settings, then two lamps will not be enough. But if you are able to manually adjust the iso, aperture and shutter speed settings. Then you will get much better results in poor light conditions.
