Feedback Thread
Welcome aboard Tantive XI!
We're all excited that you have decided to join the forum. Our mission is pretty simple:
1. To provide a relaxed and positive environment for vintage Star Wars collectors to hang out;
2. To maintain comprehensive databases of SW vintage collectibles for the community to use as a reference tool; and
3. Finally, to encourage and hopefully inspire high quality discussions about the vintage SW collectibles we all love.
We strive to improve our forum to give our members a better experience Therefore, your opinions are extremely valuable to us. We can't improve the site's performance without the input of you guys. It is you who will help define what kind of forum we will become; we are merely here to facilitate the experience.
We would appreciate it if you could take a couple of minutes to answer the following two questions.
1. What do you like about Tantive XI as it stands?
2. And more importantly, what aspects of the forum can we improve?
Don’t be shy, we're big boys and can handle some constructive feedback. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Also in case you have an idea for more content, please let us know by posting in this thread or by contacting the TXI Team via the "Contact" button in the right bottom corner.
The TXI team will regularly review new ideas and try to realize them. As said before, we can’t do this alone, so big chance we will contact you, for instance for setting up a project X devoted to your beloved topic.
Thank you for your cooperation!

Re: Your opinion matters, please let us know what you think about TXI
In order to thrive I think the forums need to take some of the strengths of FB.
1. Images - it's a pain having to load to PB or flikr etc and then linking to a post. I've just read somewhere that photos from smartphones can be emdedded easier so I'll try it.
2. Tagging - not quoting. Would there be a way for me to type Emilia Clarke and have her tagged Just Emilia Clarke though
3. I actually like the way Ross' groups are divided, and I didn't think I would. The SW, ESB, etc eras. This forum doesn't say vintage but is it? A modern area is needed.
4. Inboxes - need to be bigger than the usual 200 or so. Organising something like a SS quickly fills those boxes up
5. Clean mobile interface - SWFUK is brilliant on mobile. TIG and RS are dreadful unless you use the classic site option which isn't really the point
6. Notifications - I saw I had a notification. I responded to the post. Can it then set it back to 0? It seems I have to click on the notification and then click X?

Re: Your opinion matters, please let us know what you think about TXI
Not really feedback, but something I just learned. I was quoting someone else's post that contained a link, I could not post in the thread my response and I presume it was because of the link. It did not say this while I was trying to post, I found out because I sent a pm to James with the message and the link was in it since I copied the entire response as I had types it. It told me I couldn't send the message because I am a new member and there is a wait time for links. I didn't see that information elsewhere, so just sharing that.
Is there a quick rundown of various limited access things? I see every thread in the library is locked so assume members can not add to the library. The txi team, developers team, etc links at the bottom when you click them say access is denied so I guess members don't get to know who is on what team? I know the main mods so assume that is it for now, but as people are added or whatever might be nice to be able to see who is on the teams.
Is there a wait period for pictures also? Not that I have any but since the link info was unknown to me I am curious on the pictures if there is a wait period.

How did you do this? I am using an iPad so maybe it is different, but I can't click the notifications. There is nothing there to click I guess. I see it in the top right of the screen and it says (1) but I can't seem to do anything to it.

Firstly Richard, welcome on board.
1. - I'm working on the tutorial, for uploading pictures. I should have it finished up tonight. One of the ways is a direct upload from your smart phone or computer hard drive.
2. - We have been working on a tagging system here as well. I'm not the expert on this, but I think if you type "@Commander Clint" in your message, I should get a message or an alert. I will check with the "mechanics" on this one.
3. - We are strickly a vintage site. If you want to discuss some modern SW items, or other toy lines, the "Off Topic" Section would be good for that.
4. - We have maxed the in-boxes at 200. I'm not sure if the forum platform will allow for more?
5. - Our mechanics have been working on the mobile interface. I'm not sure if it's finished yet?
6.- If you click on the notifications at the top of the page. Just "X" them out and they will go away.
Hope this helps. We are a big work in progress, so bear with us for a bit.

Hey Bryan I think the limitation on posting links and pics is that annoying rule put into place by forumotion, like what you have on TIG. I think It is a restriction that should disappear once you have made a certain amount of posts.
All of the reference library entries are locked, as we feel this will help keep these guides clean and easier to access the information that you are looking for on a particular subject. Discussion threads will be linked to these reference library entries, so that items can be discussed and updated. These updates will be performed by 'The Librarian'.
At the moment all of the team members hold the role of moderator, we are all mods and devs combined, there are no hidden TXI team members. But if any new members were to join and given a particular role or status, they would be seen in the TXI team legend, found at the bottom of the home page. Plus they're user name will be a particular colour.

Re: Your opinion matters, please let us know what you think about TXI
So in the library section the locked threads can not be added, but we, regular members, can add a new discussion thread about one of the locked threads? Like say we see a new coo we can add a thread saying here is what we saw or we have to ask a mod to add a thread? This is just a trial and error thing for a while until I get a feel for the forum, as the link thing is new to me and threw me off.
I think I figured out the notifications thing also, it is in the top corner but can't click on it there, I had to go into profile and see it that way. May be an iPad thing or that may be the way it has to be done, I don't know.

Re: Your opinion matters, please let us know what you think about TXI
that is correct... in order to keep the library as just a reference source, we will keep the discussion and new discoveries in a separate discussion thread, say for example PBP/ Poch era figures.
Then when new, validated information has been confirmed and approved by all (mods and members alike) the new info will be added to the reference library by the Librarian
The eventual idea is that you can look up a character, say for example Luke farmboy, and all the information about this figure, whether loose, baggie, moc etc... will be all in one place, via various hyperlinks, to each respective library entry. Making it relatively quick and easy to source the particular info you are searching for.
You will not have to search through several pages of chat before finding the snippet of info you are looking for.

If you go to your "Profile" at the top of the page. And go to the "Notifications" tab. There is a setting at the bottom you can check, so that if you are tagged in a conversation, you will get notification. For some reason I couldn't check the notification by email check box. I will ask the mechanics about this.

Bryan, I will have to check this out on my iPad.

Edit. I couldn't open the notifications either. Must be a glitch. I also didn't see a notification tab at all, while in the mobile version mode? I will add it to the list of things for the mechanics to look at.

Clint, the notifications thing I think I figured out on the iPad anyway. You can't click it at the top corner, but if you go into profile there is a notification tab in there that you can get to.

There is going to be bugs for a while probably, especially with regular and mobile formats being worked on.
That's one of the joys of members like me. I get to be a pain in yalls backside for a while.

Not sure about these link and possible pic limitations.
But access to the list of group members (by clicking on the group links like "TXI Team" or "TXI Crew") should not be denied of course.
Probably some wrong settings.
I'm sure our [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] is able to fix this soon.

Re: Your opinion matters, please let us know what you think about TXI
Great feedback already guys, thanks! Yep definitely a work in progress but with feedback like this hopefully we can iron out any issues asap.
We definitely have tried to learn some lessons from Facebook, mainly how easy that platform is to use.
We also have quite a large team of mods so hopefully this will make it easier for us to maintain the forum, deal with member issues, encourage discussion etc etc.

Re: Your opinion matters, please let us know what you think about TXI
Patrick, it appears that someone did something now as the groups now show who is in them when I click on them. Yesterday it was saying access denied so it appears that is fixed.
I have a question regarding the library section stuff. I don't really have anything to add at the moment but since the point of us being on here a bit early is to try it out would it piss people off terribly if I tried to go in there and then hit start topic and just say test or something to see what would happen? I know we can't add to the specific existing post, but when we have info to add it looks like we can add new topics to that section because start topic is an available selection that I see while in there.

Hi Bryan, yes settings were changed a few minutes ago I was told by one of our Mechanics.
Personally I think if you just add new threads or posts it's always possible to delete them later on. So it wouldn't harm but help us to see where we have to make modifications. So I'd say why not, it just helps!
Cheers

Re: Your opinion matters, please let us know what you think about TXI
Ok, just did one in the library section for 3 3/4'figures. After seeing that it put my thread in the specific section I was trying for, but it put it at the top. So my suggestion is make the actual library posts be stickies so that any new added post by members remains below those. If not then the main figure posts will get buried under member additions.

Re: Your opinion matters, please let us know what you think about TXI
Same thing happened in the coo section with my post going to top so eventually the other posts would get buried. I think sticky all the main informational locked posts and then member post will be under these, but that is just a suggestion.
Also I dnt know if it was intentional or not, but did you guys see that the same title "there's something odd about oola" is used in the vintage chat section and in the library?

Looks great so far. Love the forum and subforum layout - very easy to navigate and the idea of being able to upload pictures straight to a post will be a huge step forward for forums.
OK just some quick questions and feedback:
Why TantiveXI? There are 12 of you not 11. What's the connection with XI?
Will we get some of Ozio's awesome banners on the site?
The subforum names are highly amusing.... but might not be the most obvious for new people to navigate.
I haven't worked out the picture upload straight to the page - seemed a bit complicated. Will this be simplified?
Overall it looks really nice and I'm very happy to be invited to join

First, Oli.
There was originally 11 & then Patrick some how found the secret Rebel base, and want to help.
Ozio is working on some new banners.
The forum section names were just fun to come up with.
I just finished the tutorial for uploading pictures last night. The straight to the page option is pretty easy, once you've tried it. It has been tested from desktops, iPhones, Android's, etc... and seems to work well.

That's a really good question and I'm surprised it took nearly a day that someone realised and asked about it.
Well, we could say we failed counting to 12 ... but nobody would believe that I guess ...
So here's the truth:
Once upon a time 11 young and enthusiastic SW collectors wanted to build up a brand new and really awesome forum that was intended to bridge between forums and FB and that combines the very best of both concepts. And so they did and because they were 11 guys they choose a really cool name with the number 11 in it. After a while another young and enthusiastic SW collector came and was a tiny bit too curious and found their new forum by accident! The 11 reacted very friendly and did not want to affront him and so they let him participate in their project. But the name Tantive XI was already chosen and so the new guy simply became the twelfth of eleven. ... and they lived happily ever after.
Cheers
