Sotherby's Nigo Auction
Auction is half, so I thought I'd start a thread to get some reactions. All I have to say is $25,000 for a carded DT Luke!!! Holy F!!

Can't get the link to post. Google Sotherby's Star Wars auction and it comes right up.

Don't forget to add the 25% fee on top of the end price!! 35k for the 7-back!! Wow! Anyone in this group do any bidding?

Re: Sotherby's Nigo Auction
I was thinking of bidding on some stuff (Luke proof cards for example) but the extra fees turned me off. From what I've seen the prices were pretty insane anyway.
Did you bid on anything Gary?

Re: Sotherby's Nigo Auction
Well a lot went out of any range, but there were some MOC lots which went quite reasonably IMO. Or take the lot with the boxed skiff, boxed sandcrawler, Slave one, Speeder Bike and Landspeeder. All in nice boxes. $1300 is a quite good Price for that I think.
I was surprised how expensive these rubbish POTF 2 lots were saled.

Re: Sotherby's Nigo Auction
@christian - nope, I didn't even register! There where only two lots that I would have went on, the fx7 31bk proof and the cantina alien revenge proof lot. The fees and my suspicion that there were going to be some very deep pocketed / shallow knowledged paddle-wavers in this one, really kept me out of it. I do agree with Akial, a handful of lots seemed to go off at a fair price though.

Wow indeed. I hope the buyer did his research before plunking down that much for the 7-pack. Way over priced IMHO, and not all of the figures in that particular example were the correct ones; especially the American (!) carded Lobot (which should have been the *Canadian* skinwrapped version).
The 4 foot Chewbacca was also missing some grey ammo clips too.

I agree. That 7 pack shocked me at what it went for, especially seeing that it wasn't all Canadian and seemed to be pieced together.

Surely these items were bought by non-typical SW fans? Who'd pay those prices? 3 x DT Lukes sold for $17k on FB recently. And the R5 error card was just silly.

Re: Sotherby's Nigo Auction
Seems like some things sold for more just because it was owned by Nigo lol
Wish I had that type of money to bid lmao I'm satisfied with beaters for now haha

Yeah was thinking the same thing. I guess the celebrity factor around the auction (and TFA) would have attracted non-collectors with bigggggg pockets.
