May The North Be With You Announcement!!

We’re proud to announce former Nelvana alumni Larry Jacobs and Brian Lemay as special guests. They will join already announced guest, John Celestri, for a Nelvana reunion panel exploring the Canadian animation studio's Star Wars work. Nelvana was the studio behind the Boba Fett cartoon in the Star Wars Holiday Special which aired in 1978 and the Droids and Ewoks cartoons of the mid-80’s.
Larry Jacobs joined Nelvana in 1977. He was an animator on the Nelvana cartoon for the Star Wars Holiday Special in 1978. In the 1980’s, Larry worked as an Assistant Director on the Ewoks series.
Brian Lemay was a Layout Artist at Nelvana and worked on both the DROIDS and EWOKS animated series. Brian also worked on 80’s favs Inspector Gadget, Strawberry Shortcake, Smurfs and Care Bears.
John Celestri was the animator who brought Boba Fett to life in the Star Wars Wars Holiday Special.
All three guests will be available for autographs (extra costs apply) and will be joining our Friday dinner.

Jim Swearingen, the Kenner toy designer behind the first 12 Star Wars figures, will be returning to May The North Be With You this August in Oakville, Ontario. Jim’s Kenner resume also includes designs for the original X-Wing, TIE Fighter and both the 3.75” and 12” Boba Fett figures.

Gord Warren was Production Manager for Irwin Toy (Kenner Canada) from 1978 through the end of the Star Wars toy line.

The latest guest announcement is a big one.

Roger Christian was a production designer for Star Wars & Alien.  As well as second unit director for Return of the Jedi & The Phantom Menace.

Here are a few pictures from the event.  As always, I wished that I had taken more pictures.
It was a fantastic weekend from the dinner with the guests and attendies on Friday night, the panels & room sales on Saturday.  And the toy show on Sunday.
The charity raffle and auction raised $1,510.00 for Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto.

Thanks Ian.  It was so much fun.  Where else would you be able to talk to the guests for hours at a time.
We even have one of the Nelvana guys currently creating custom cartoon character pictures with yourself added into a Droids scene.

I'm glad you had a great time at the con Clint, and had the opportunity to spend so much time chatting with the guests. That droids cartoon of Jason Smith is awesome! Such a cool idea

They just announced that MTNBWY 3 is being planned for the August long weekend 2024. It looks like that weekend lands on Friday - Sunday (Aug 2nd-4th) with the Monday holiday (5th) to recover.
