2022 goals vintage collecting goals

Mine is very minimal

To find vintage starwars out in the wild for very little money. More of the thrill if anything.

And construct a luke dagobah custom! I've just started

My goal is the same as most years.
Get my collection out of the storage bins and out on display.
I just picked up 2 Billy Bookcases from Ikea. So I'm getting closer to that goal.

Locate some original weapons, that don't break the bank, to complete my loose run. OPC 3rd series ESB box, they don't seem to come up often.

I would love to do the same, but lack the space for any display cabinets at the moment.

No real goals for me this year, although I would like to continue adding more content to the 3.75" figure reference library. So I'll continue trying to add a variant from each coo family to my collection.

Thanks David and Chris. They are the 79 1/2" (201.93 cm) tall Ikea Billy Bookcases with doors. I had to cut 1" (2.54 cm) off of the toe kick at the bottom, in order to fit them under the bulkhead.

Great looking collection Clint . I am mainly looking for beaters for doing some custom figure's that I been wanting to do up.
I also want to get everything displayed at some point.

I started making a custom step riser to fit my Billy bookcases.  As it's damn near impossible to find a clear acrylic stand to fit, without costing an arm and a leg.
So I found some nice 1/4" (6.35 mm) poplar wood pieces and started working on it yesterday.
It has the same height and  tier dimensions as the acrylic pieces.
I think it turned out pretty well.

The sanding, priming & painting will have to wait.  It's 32˚C today with the humidity making it feel like 40˚C.  So it will have to wait until it's nicer to work outside.

great job Clint, those risers are gonna look awesome, with all your figures displayed on them, The wooden ones will most likely out last any acrylic ones anyway. will you be painting them yellow, to match the vintage Kenner card backs?

Thanks Chris. It was fairly easy to make.
It's all glued together, without any nails or fasteners.

I was thinking about painting them white to match the cabinets.  Keeping everything the same colour.

I designed this one to fit without taking the doors off the cabinets.  Which meant that they had to be about 5/8" (16mm) narrower than the inside of the cabinets.
But after I set it in place.  I'm likely going to have another attempt and make them fit tight in the cabinet.
Then it won't create shadows against the ends.  Which will mean taking the doors off, in order fit them in place.

I'm hoping to pick up some more materials tonight and make a couple more.
It's going to cost about $35 CND for each set of risers. + my time.
The 2 acrylic risers above it on the top shelf were about $70 CND and don't fill the entire space.

yeah The new riser looks great Clint. They're going to look so much better than the acrylic ones, as they are custom made to fit. Good choice on the white too. Yellow isn't my thing either. But some people like to give their display that vintage Kenner look
