Thoughts on Stan Solo figures
I'm all for fan made projects factory made custom vintage style figures that were never made (trash compactor in particular and his callaborators)
Stan Solos perfectly reproducted last 17 figure doesnt sit well with me. It cheapens my genuine ones a little imo.

That is where I got my Teal deleted scene R2 unit from. The Leia figure is from another customizer.

All of his "customs" are fantastic quality. Likely from steel molds and injection molding process for the parts. And great quality spray masked paint apps.
As for the "reproduction" last 17 figures. It doesn't sit with me either. I've won't be buying any more from him. Not even the Bantha or the Slave Leia.
At least the Lando General figure has different paint colours to give it a more screen accurate look.

Making custom's of thing's not seen is one thing, but not when you make them look identical to the original. To someone just getting into this hobby and even more experienced people could get fooled into thinking these are original. Not saying he would do that but anyone could buy them and sell them as originals. It's like the weapons I seen that would pass all the test's and even look like the real deal.

He does have "SS" stamped in place of the COO & date on the piece that I have. So I'm assuming he has done the same with the reproduction figures as well. I can't say for sure.
From what I've read. He has new steel mold made and has a factory in Asia producing large batches at time.

Re: Thoughts on Stan Solo figures
I'm totally against making reproductions of existing figures . For quite awhile it wasn't too hard to tell the difference between real and reproduction weapons until a couple years ago . Repro weapons started showing up that are quite difficult , if not impossible , to tell from the originals . This completely drove me away from collecting , buying or selling the figures and is one of my main reasons for focusing on oddball stuff now .

Yeah He does make some really cool and well crafted customs.
It's just really sad that he's trying to cash in on the overinflated prices of last 17 figures. I would certainly hope that he at least had the decency to change the coo markings on his knock offs.
The fact that he's reproducing exact copies of vintage figures, puts me off wanting to purchase any of his unique custom figures.

These are the weapon's I was referring to, I was thinking of grabbing some just so I could get a closer look at them. You can see from the photo's that they would be hard to Id IMO.

I'd do love his bantha but I cant justify over a £100 that's not including shipping to the uk. As to his slave leia I'm intrigued but I prefer the one I made it has a better posture

Re: Thoughts on Stan Solo figures
I was shocked to see the repo last 17 figures all over eBay, they do have (SS) where the COO markings would be but it doesn't sit well with me at all
Make good quality customs of figures that were not produced in the line, that's great but copying existing figures exactly no, I would not touch them

Re: Thoughts on Stan Solo figures
Good topic.
I am a big fan of custom figures for characters which were never released in the Kenner line.
Not such a big fan of Stan Solo reproductions of genuine Kenner figures though. I am OK with it as long as these can be easily distinguished for instance by a different datestamp. Like is the case for Hasbro's retro line.
What worries me are the repro asseccories that come with the Stan Solo figures. Can these be easily identified as being repro?

I would say the weapons would be very tough to identify as repro. They look very good and clean.
Here is the lot of pieces that I bought. The bag of weapons was unexpected, and apparently puts them in orders over a certain amount.
I kept them to be used in any customs that need weapons. (I usually modify them or drill holes in the handles)
I was curious how the droids where made. That's why the green droid is in pieces.

Re: Thoughts on Stan Solo figures
Thanks Clint. It is a pity that the repro weapons are not clearly marked as such.
Genuine vintage weapons like the pop up saber have reached ridiculous price levels.....
Do the Stan Solo have the same "look and feel" compared to the Kenner figures when in hands?

The weapons and the droid legs are made from a much stiffer plastic. So they definitely feel different.
But they look very good. They would fool a new collector, if they didn't know what a real weapon feels like.
