Toy Shops
Thought I would start a list of toy shops where you can get your vintage toys, because I ran into a fellow collector yesterday morning and he started a new toy shop.
Please add your favourite shops from around the globe. Once we get enough places listed, we'll create a master list.

Re: Toy Shops
The only one we have here in Victoria is Cherry Bomb Toys, its not a huge store but it has lots of vintage toys as well as a toy museum.

Re: Toy Shops
This is literally the only toy shop from where I've actually bought vintage figs. They were decently priced but I haven't been back in a couple of years.

Toy Tokyo in NYC was amazing but really overpriced.

Can't really add to that - but Jeff at Kool Stuff has stopped shipping his stuff. In store only now.

Yeah it's pretty great. There's a place in Kitchener that has everything except the vintage line called J&J's Comics & Collectables. POTF2 till current. Pretty uninteresting lol. I think I did round out my EU set there though with a Kyle Kararn or a Thrawn.
Re: Toy Shops
you also have amazing pike and smallmouth fishing , sometimes I wish I was up there also I love Canada , beautiful

Re: Toy Shops
I live in Southern Oklahoma (aka, Texoma)... about 10 minutes from Texas, right between Dallas and OKC. In the city, there is Toy Base 10, which is a really neat vintage toy store with a *ton* of everything from 1950 to modern toys. In Dallas there is Order 66 (McKinney, TX) and then Dallas Vintage Toys along with 6-7 other places that are pretty amazing. It's a great place (Dallas) to look for vintage toys.

Lucky you. Sounds awesome. I saw the Order 66 booth at Celebration Anaheim and they had loads.
If you do a search on 'Dallas Vintage Toys' in forums like Rebelscum or SWFUK you'll find a lot of information about them being seriously dodgy. Keep an eye out....

Yes, listen to Christian. Don't just search out DVT, but also the owner, Shaun Neinast.
He's had one of the worst reps in the hobby for 2 full decades now.

Re: Toy Shops
They're not that local to me, but for those in the area, I can recommend:
'All The Cool Stuff' 64 High Street, Fordingbridge, Hampshire SP6 1AX, United Kingdom. This shop is owned by Dave Tree who also organises the very successful 'Farthest From' vintage SW events.
'Automatic Comics' 17A Pickwick Road, Corsham, Wiltshire SN13 9BQ, United Kingdom. This shop is owned by Matt Booker who is also a reporter for 'Jedi News'.
These shops stock a mixture of vintage & modern SW along with other lines.

Nice post, always best to have a place to go to see the item first before you buy,

Re: Toy Shops
Just checked out Dark Matter Toys & Collectables yesterday because I happened to be working in London, Ontario, still 25km from the shop but close enough that I had to go.
That was a hell of a recommendation, Clint. The owner is friendly and he had several vintage Kenner items that I’d not seen in person before.
I spent a good chunk of change and mentioned how I heard about the shop (I’ll post those items in ‘latest picks’ when I get around to photographing them), he seemed almost sad to part with those pieces .
This store has about 7 or 8 of Clint’s custom droids on display too, they look great in person.

Re: Toy Shops
Glad you could check out the store. Craig the owner, is a really nice guy. That was where I traded the custom droids for beaters (plus I owed him for other deals), and where I traded my extra Canadian Paploo for the Canadian Wicket.

Warehouse Antiques - Yarmouth, Nova Scotia
I believe I’ve found the only shop in the province of Nova Scotia which makes a point of selling vintage Star Wars items:
“Warehouse Antiques” in Yarmouth. Halifax had no such store, and this one in Yarmouth has no internet presence as far as I can tell. I walked in with no expectations. Having the day off, I was exploring the town.
After a few loaded rooms full of mostly nautical Canadiana, I reached the toy room, and Star Wars was just a small part of it. There was nothing super exotic, but I wanted a few loose figures for some cross Canadia shots for our instagram. Part of the reason I am posting this is because it might now be searchable.

Here’s what I made off with; a paint upgrade Leia and a Weequay for some photos.

(Sorry if some of these picture are upside down, they look fine on my phone but I’ll fix it up when I get on the laptop later. I’m trying to add some more photos of Star Wars gimcrack but my phone is protesting at the moment

Thanks for sharing Clint - I have been to The Toy Society... and the English Pub that's located directly across the street.
The Ontario Toy Show link is also a favorite... I've gotten pretty lucky with some cool pieces and favorable prices with the US/Canada exchange over the years. Did you (or Chris) happen to make the Star Wars Toy Con back in July? I was wondering how that show went?
Thinking about attending the Action Figure Expo in Mississauga on 9/16 if my schedule permits. I will be at Windsor Comic Con @ Caesars on 9/29.

The last show that I went to, was the Collectors Expo in Mississauga, June 10.

Hopefully I'll have more time in the Fall/Winter for some shows. The Toy Society was great for vintage when it first opened. Unfortunately, their vintage stock got depleted fairly quickly.
I'm not sure if I will be able to make it to the Action Figure Expo in Sept.. Most of the other shows haven't been listed yet, but hopefully when the dealers are back from summer holidays. Burlington, Woodstock, & Kitchener are my 3 closest show, that attend every once in while.

I have to save up for Chicago in April, so my spending will be limited for a while.
I think the Toronto Fan Expo is this weekend?

Sounds good - I may have contributed to some of that depleted stock @ TTS.
Not sure about the Toronto Fan Expo, can't say that I've been...
The Burlington show is good. Thanks for the response, see you in Chicago!

Chicago will be fun. I'll be wandering around checking out the shows/panels & handing out swag. Just look for the mods wearing the TantiveXI shirts.Mike_Z wrote:Sounds good - I may have contributed to some of that depleted stock @ TTS.

Re: Toy Shops
Hey Mike,
I won't be at that one in September because I'll be at the ever so polarizing ICCC in Nashville. I'm also gonna be at FanExpo (working ) on Thursday, and in Chicago too. Lol by the time I get to Chicago I doubt I'll be buying much.
