My first purchase as an adult collector was a loose Palitoy Landspeeder in 1993 from a great little shop called 'The Twilight Zone' in Egham, Surrey (just down the road from my university). I was so thrilled to get it as I wanted one after seeing a kid at primary school playing with one around autumn 1978. The shop had a great selection of moc's, but at the time I thought most of them were expensive e.g. Kenner ESB 48 back Luke Bespin with 'Revenge' sticker for £40.00. (Oh how I now wish I spent more money on vintage SW rather than beer! )

Great stories, shocking prices too. At great risk of alienating myself, I’ll enguage in this. I’ve had some vintage pieces for a long time, collected “modern” items since 1995 (yes, even left some carded ).
However, my first vintage item purchased as an adult was a loose, minty, complete Fett at Toronto Comic Con in March, 2016. it was a whopping $75 CAD, such a modern price.
The next month, a country wide work trip with many stops built up my collection, then I joined here, one year ago.

First purchase was a Luke x wing figure around fifteen years ago, swiftly followed by a large display cabinet which I started slowly filling shelf by shelf of vintage goodies, I managed to get back from my cousin my childhood figures, which was great to have back again, I can't imagine starting a vintage collection today what with prices as they are, even beater figures are pricey

About 12 years ago I found a beat up Vader case with 4 figures in it at a garage sell for $10 . I thought I had a real find at the time but quickly discovered I could get all I wanted on ebay

i always was on again off again collecting since even the early 90's when i was in high school , when the new stuff got rereleased me and a collector friend of mine would travel all over the place to find anything we could . there was a little store in new jersey called the outer limits , thats when i first saw an anakin skywalker loose . funny how when your older you dont use the back of the cards as a checklist and to be honest i never noticed that i was missing him . i purchased him in 95 loose for 17$ . by todays prices even i got ripped off

I always thought it was two Jawas (one vcj that turned out to be fake, and one cloth cape which turned out to be real) from a car boot in Colchester 97, but I was recently going through some old uni photos and stumbled across this photo and they weren’t there. So I guess it’s one of these motley crew of 8!
