Luke bespin pbp which version?
Hi All,
Just a question about this bespin luke.. I Cannot Find Some info on this fig in combination with the Brown boots, painted black hip and blond hair..i already checked the coo guide en had a look on many Luke bespin threats. The fig is 100% legit for sure. Just wondering which PBP variant this is? The boots are not the "darkbrown" ones. Also not the "caramel" boots. Is it possible that this is a early realease or maybe a late release? Just won this fig and hoping for some more info here. General Kahn is the expert, but ofcourse everybody who haves a idea or answer feel free to post your opinion!! This is the way to learn from eachother.

All you have to do is copy and paste each of the individual photobucket codes into your post. Either by a space between the codes, or just put each picture code on a different line. Hope that helps

Not sure about this one Remy but [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] will be able to sort you out. He's having some trouble with his internet at the moment though.

Hi Chris,
Yes chocolate boots I think! Not the darkbrown or the caramel boots.. But the differences are the painted hip. Yours Luke bespin is unpainted and this one is with painted hip.. Figs are both correct.. But didn't found info about this fig in combination with: painted hip, Choco boots...General Kahn knows for sure. Let's wait on his opinion.

Re: Luke bespin pbp which version?
These are actually Alex's pics, taken from the TXI 3/4" loose figure library
With all his other entries, Alex has included both a painted hip and unpainted hip version of the same boot colours.
So it kinda makes sense to me, that if there are both painted and unpainted hips for the other boot colours, then there should be for chocolate boots too.
But you are right, we should wait and see what the General makes of it

Cheers Chris!
Yes, I'm for 80% sure that Alex will confirm that. But just wanted to know for sure. :-)

Re: Luke bespin pbp which version?
Sorry for the late reply gents, been off line recently, or more to the point, had practically zero internet so couldn't really load pics up etc.
Interesting figure. The major problem with things like this is, you can take a picture of a figure from 10 different angles or with 10 different cameras or with 10 different different light sources and the colour will look different every time, it's very difficult to see what colour something is when there is nothing to compare it to. The same problem exists with the dark ginger Luke, very hard to tell from picture, but very easy when in hand.
What's also hard here is the potential for this to be a caramel boots Luke, which has an almost infinite number of looks because of the paint used.
First of all let's discuss the three potentials here.
- Caramel boots
- Chocolate boots
- Something new
Now, there are typically four different boot colours available for this PBP figure, these are shown in the picture above that Chris posted, caramel, choclolate, dark brown (matte) and dark brown (glossy) the two dark browns are also different shades.
The two dark brown versions can both be found with either painted hips or unpainted hips, so far to date the caramel boots Luke has only ever turned up with a painted hip and the choclate boots has only ever turned up with the unpainted hip.
Now this is a small amount of evidence to sugest that the chocolate boots can also be found with a painted hip, but this only comes from a couple of pictures that I have seen, and most importantly, with no comparison in the photo, so as said before, very difficult to tell.
It's also important to note that the chocolate colour is very flat and matte, yet the picture posted here seems very shiny and glossy looking.
Now the caramel colour was most likely the earlist colour used on these PBP figure, it featured on the last of the early PBP figures, the so called Poch figures which appeared on the 31/41C card, this PBP figure (the one been discussed) also first appeared on that same card.
The thing with the caramel boots is the paint that was used, it's almost like a glaze and depending on how thickly or thinly it was applied it can create a multitude of different appearances with no two really looking the same. The other colours usually have an even coat which always looks the same, but because the caramel has an almost translucent glaze effect it can appear almost see through in thin areas of application and also tends to build up in the recesses which become thicker and creates a different colour, this it what gives it its name.
Above is a couple of examples that show the varying different shades that can be found on the same boots.
It's possible that your example is the caramel but with a much thicker application which has created a more even look, my example on my Tri-Logo card has quite a uniform application as cam be seen below.
The final possibility is that it is something new of course, but it's very difficult to determine that with out having it in hand unfortunately. I do offer a service for the dark ginger Luke, where people can send me the figure and I'll identify it or not and I even offer a COA with that If you would like me to take a look at it then I would be more than happy to do that, people here can vouch for me in terms of honesty, I aren't gonna run off with it it's up too you, but the offer is there if you want.
