Guest Collector on VSWC Blog – Mete Akin: Responsible and sound buying techniques
Hey guys, yesterday I was lucky enough to have Mete Akin (who is also a member here) publish an exclusive article on my blog. Mete is well-known in the collecting world for his awesome Uzay collection and for his love of bootlegs and prototypes.
He has written a set of excellent guidelines to buying responsibly in today’s market; an article that hopefully will not only encourage collectors to stay honest and respectful but also to get the most out of their vintage SW buying and selling experiences.
I completely agree with Mete's guidelines and I'm sharing it here for those who do not follow my blog or who aren't on FB.

Thanks a lot guys and thank you as always Christian! I wanted to include this write up on your blog because honestly I think it's much more level headed and intelligent than most other resources (hope I didn't bring the IQ level down too much
With all the stupid prices being paid and thrown around, it's important to realize high realized prices are bad for everyone. It's driving the market to record levels. If we want to stay in the game for the long run, prices need to be kept in check by us, the collectors on the front line.
Great forum here looking forward to staying active!

Thank you Mete and Christian for your article.
Great read and some wise words indeed.
Mete: have you ever seen Uzay figures for sale on the bazar in Istanbul?

I've spent at least 5 days in Istanbul over the years antique and flea market hunting for uzays - almost everybody who is involved in antiques knows the value of Uzays, so they really aren't available. The only success I had was in an old toy store where the guy turned up a light paint tie fighter pilot in pretty good shape. He even knew Uzays were valuable but didn't recognize his as an uzay and sold it for a few bucks.
