Re: icy oklahoma !!!!!!!!!
Jesus f*cking christ mate! That is bloody intense. I hate the shitty rainy and cold weather here in Holland all year long but at least it doesn't get insane like that.
Re: icy oklahoma !!!!!!!!!
Haha, I learned years ago to carry a lighter in my winter jacket pocket. So that I can heat my car key up if the locks are frozen and iced over.

Re: icy oklahoma !!!!!!!!!
I am sure you Canadians have it much more frequently and your definitely more prepared
Here are pics of the damage done to the top of Julie's car ...
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
It's really hard for me to believe that it's $3000 worth of damage but , as the body shop knows its a insurance claim , I'm sure they jacked up the price
This is the pile of limbs now after Mary's and our yards have been cleaned up (and we are thawed out) ...
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Doesn't look as big in the pics as it really is - probably 6 feet tall and piled nearly the width of our front yard
The other property we have right behind our house is a even bigger pile because there are a lot more trees there
It took me 5 days but I finally got the majority of the mess cleaned up

Re: icy oklahoma !!!!!!!!!
The worst thing about the ice down here (in both Oklahoma and Texas) is that people lose their freaking minds. It is like they see it and forget how to drive all of a sudden. That applies to rain to in Texas. Its like they see this strange substance falling from the sky and suddenly forget that they are in a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and need to be able to control their actions. Then when one does wreck the other 50 million idiots on the road suddenly think they need to see it. I cant tell you how many times I have nearly been run over while working an accident (for those who don't know I used to be a police officer).
James that is a good amount of damage. Cars these days get major dents if you look at them wrong so it doesn't really surprise me. Not made of good old fashioned steel like the trucks I grew up with. I have a 2007 chevy Silverado and a rock from another vehicle flew up into my hood and put a huge dent in it. Freaking aluminum and fiberglass crap.

Glad you finally got everything cleaned up.
That sucks about Julie's car. I've notice, You haven't mentioned your truck yet? Was it parked in the carport?
Does the city offer a special clean up day or do you have to pay to have everything taken away?
If the city doesn't clean the piles up. I have an idea.
It's a clean up party at James's place. I'll bring the marshmellows & a box of beer.

Re: icy oklahoma !!!!!!!!!
Agreed Bryan - the bad weather , even rain , seems to turn the idiots around here into even bigger idiots . I do my best to avoid getting out during bad weather (and holidays) because people have no fucking since at all
Yes , my truck was parked in Mary's car port so it was safe and sound
Usually after a storm the city does offer a free clean up day but , even if they don't this time , all we have to do is call and they will send a truck and crane out to pick it all up
I'll start setting up for the party ... whens everyone getting here
You supply the beer , I'll supply the smokables and Alex can provide the entertainment ...

As Alex would say "BAM" ...
that's right I did it

Oh, that applies here as well. Two years ago, we had our first snow in mid-November. We then did not see a hint of grass until almost April. One of the snowiest winters we've ever had. Yet, despite going through treacherous weather every year, including these ice storms, it is always sometime after Christmas when people start remembering how to drive in it. Even then, there are morons who think a 4x4 makes them invincible and they race along at 120 km/hr down an 80 km/hr highway.
Sorry about the car damage James. I can see it being $3000, just because pulling out dents isn't cheap - and you have a lot of them.
Ian
Re: icy oklahoma !!!!!!!!!
Thank You Ian
We get a bit of all kinds of weather here in Oklahoma - the big saying around here is "If you don't like the Oklahoma weather , just wait a minute because it will change "
We had freezing rain and ice Friday through Sunday and the last couple of days it has been sunny and 50 degrees . They are forecasting snow at the coming weekend
next week will be Tornado's and a heat wave probably
It is good to hear that we aren't getting overcharged for the repairs too

That's hilarious. I've heard the same quote applied to our entire country.
Never expected Oklahoma and Canada to be that similar in weather. The last two weeks, we've gone from shorts weather to winter jacket weather, and seen snow, sun, and rain alternating. Nuts.

James still doesn't believe that I'm Canadian. All because I didn't say EH or Hoser while talking to him on the phone.
I think Canada is located right above Oklahoma.

While you were on the phone with him did he say "damn it I spilled my beer" or "where's my pants?" If not maybe he isn't Oklahoman.

I am glad you guys are ok it sucks about Julie's car but like you I am always amazed at how beautiful nature can be even at its worse. we have had them here in the past but so far this winter is pretty good, For those who don't know Canada very well I live in the one area that doesn't get snow very often but go an hour in any direction and they get hit.

Re: icy oklahoma !!!!!!!!!
Well then here is me and Clint singing the 12 days of Christmas for you all then lol
And the Lyrics for all you who don't understand Canadian lol
B: OK, good day. This is our Christmas part of the album. You can
play this
at your Christmas parties, or to yourself on Christmas Eve, if
there's
nothin' else to do.
D: Good day, eh? In case you thought, like, I wasn't on this part.
B: Oh, I guarantee ya you'd be on. OK, so good day. This is the
Christmas
part, and we're gonna tell ya what to get..um...your true love for
Christmas.
D: Look out the window!
B: Where? (chuckle) What are ya doin'?!?
D: Snow, hosehead!
B: Well, oh, it's the Great White North, and it's snowing 'cause it's
Christmastime. Hey, hoser!
D: What?
B: Here's a quiz. (chuckle) Quiz for Doug...
D: OK, I have my "thinking took" on.
B: Yeah, right. What are the "Twelve Days of Christmas"? 'Cause,
figure it
out, right? Christmas is when?
D: Um, the twenty-fifth...
B: Right. And, what's the twenty-fourth...Christmas Eve, right? So..
D: That's two
B: That's two. And, then what's after that? (pause) Boxing Day
D: Wrestling Day
B: Wrestl..get out!
D: Boxing Day, yeah, yeah.
B: That's three. Then, what's after that? Nothin'!
D: New Year's!
B: Four and what's...
D: New Year's Eve?
B: That's five. Where do ya get twelve?
D: Uh, there's two Saturdays and Sundays in there; that's four. So,
that's
nine. And three other days which, I believe, are the "mystery"
days.
(Music starts)
B: OK, this our Christmas song, just in case you don't know what to
get
someone for Christmas.
D: There's lots of ideas in here, so listen and don't get stuck!
(organ
starts) By the way, that's ME on the organ.
B: Oh, geez.
D: You start...
B: OK...
On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me,
A beer.
D: On the second day of Christmas, my true love gave to me,
Two turtle-necks
B: And a beer.
On the third day of Christmas, my true love gave to me,
Three French toast
D: Two turtle-necks
B: And a beer.
D: There should be more there, eh?
B: Where? Oh, go!
D: Fourth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me,
Four pounds of back-bacon
B: Three French toast
D: Two turtle-necks
B: And a beer.
D: ...in a tree. See, you need more.
B: Oh..fifth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me,
Five golden tooks,
D: Four pound of back-bacon
B: Three French toast
D: Two turtle necks
B: And a beer...where?
D: (with Bob) In a tree.
B: OK, on the sixth...oo, go!
D: ..Christmas, my true love gave to me,
C: Six...
D: Six packs of two-four
B & C: Five golden tooks
C: Four...
D: Four pounds of back-bacon
C: Three...
B: Three French toast
C: Two...
D: Two turtle-necks
C: And a beeeeeeeeer...
B: And a beer (with Doug) in a tree. OK.
On the seventh day of Christmas, my true love gave to me,
Seven pack of smokes,
C: Nice gift!
D: Nice gift. Oh...six packs of two-four
B & C: Five golden tooks.
C: Four...
D: Four pounds of back-bacon
C: Three...
B: Three French toast
C: Two...
D: Two turtle-necks
C: And a beeeeeeeeer...
B: And a beer (with Doug) in a tree. Keep forgetting.
D: Whew! This should just be the "Two Days of Christmas"; it's too
hard for
us! Go, hoser.
B & D: On the eighth day of Christmas, may true love gave to me,
D: Eight comic books
(Chorus repeats right behind them, though one behind)
B & D: Seven packs of smokes
Six pack of two-four
B: Five...
C: (catches up) Five golden tooks
Four pounds of back-bacon
Three French toast
Two turtle-necks
ALL: And a beer...

(Chorus starts up and Bob and Doug join in)
ALL: Five golden tooks
Four pounds of back-bacon,
Three French toast
Two turtle-necks
And a beer in a treeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
D: Where'd you learn to do that?
B: Um, albums.
D: So, like, that's our song. Merry Christmas...
B: Merry Christmas!
D: And good day!
B: Good day! Ha-happy New Year, too.
D: Shhh!
B: OK, you know what you left out?
D: What?
B: Donuts!
D: Oh, no!
B: I told you to get donuts. Either on the ninth day, or the tenth
day or
the eleventh day, but I want donuts!
D: OK, the song's over! Merry Christmas, everybody!
B: ...or, on the twelfth day, you could've got me a DOZEN donuts...
D: So,..go out to the stores and get some presents!
B: You could've gone down, to, like, the good donut shops where you
buy a
dozen, you get another one free, and then it'd be thirteen for the
"Thirteen Days of Christmas"!
D: Next Christmas, you can get me a chain-saw!
B: Take off!
(As music fades:)
D: Boy, that song was a beauty. It...it moved me.
B: Yeah, I think it ranks up there with "Stairway to Heaven".
D: What?
